Hot Lap of Imola in F1 2013
F1 2013 has unveiled a new Hot Lap Video and this week’s video takes place in Imola and features none other than racing legend, Michael Schumacher, in the 1996 Ferrari F310 from the classic DLC content.
The Imola track itself was named the San Marino Grand Prix which was a Formula One championship race which was run at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in the town of Imola, near the Apennine Mountains in Italy, between 1981 and 2006. It was named after the nearby San Marino because there already was an Italian Grand Prix being held at Monza track in 1980, when Monza was under refurbishment, the Imola track was used for the 51st Italian Grand Prix.
The Imola track has History with many great moments or racing and Tragedy with the deaths of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger within one race weekend brought changes into the sport to make it safer.
The Imola circuit was finally replaced in 2007 with the Belgium Grand Prix at Spa; however Imola will always be one of the Classic race tracks in Formula 1.
